Powering EveryMatrix to fastest growing igaming provider

Samoil Dolejan, CEO of GamMatrix, analyses what makes a good PAM and why GamMatrix is the engine room driving EveryMatrix to become the fastest-growing technology provider.

Our industry has a thing about acronyms. From CPAs and CRM to AML and FTDs, we don’t just write code, but we also seem to converse in it.

However, there is one acronym that is mistakenly overlooked more than others; one that is at the heart of everything we do as a business and one that enables us to power our customers and every global operator: PAM (player account management system).

For a set of technologies that enable literally every product to function at high speed, drive large traffic volumes and generate revenue, very little is said or written about PAMs aside from the occasional reference or, at the other end of the scale, overly technical white papers.

In the past two years, EveryMatrix has consistently outperformed its competitors in growth and profitability, setting records across all our business units and retaining 95% of our clients. So, what’s behind this success?

So much of the industry likes to bottle up their own secret sauce. But it’s time we lifted the lid and poured some out so you can see just how crucial our PAM, GamMatrix, has been and continues to be to all our operations and, more importantly, to our customers, who use it to grow year on year.

To put it in context, in November alone we processed eight billion bets and wins, and supported 450,000 transactions per minute (or 7,500 per second) without any performance degradation. We have the capability to support even more because our systems can theoretically scale indefinitely.

What makes a good PAM?

In such a rapidly changing igaming landscape, where regulation and product focus can pivot in the blink of an eye, an effective PAM must, without fail, be four things: fast, robust, scalable and adaptable, enabling operators to not only keep up but also surpass their rivals with sufficient flexibility to add new features, new markets and technologies faster than anyone else.

Business continuity and keeping services running without interruption is crucial to any world-class operation, so a good PAM needs to be resilient and minimise downtime.

Operators also need to adjust their services to meet different customer needs, therefore an effective PAM needs to be flexible and provide the tools to customise functionality without overhauling the entire system.

The need for speed, but how is it achieved?

GamMatrix is one of the fastest PAMs on the market for four main reasons: we view scalability and stability as priorities. These elements are built into the core of our system designed for growth, handling increasing loads without sacrificing performance, ensuring consistent uptime and reliability.

In technical terms, we also ‘decouple’ products. This means we tailor each product to an operator’s specific needs allowing for focused optimisations – such as making transaction processing extremely fast without affecting other parts – helping us to make the right trade-offs for maximum efficiency.

We carefully select the right tech stack, choosing the best technology for each product based on its requirements, opting for customised solutions and performance-oriented technologies that enhance speed and efficiency.

Finally, we take an observability-first approach with real-time monitoring to continuously assess system performance, enabling us to quickly identify and resolve issues, take data-driven decisions for improvements and perform proactive maintenance to prevent potential problems from impacting speed or performance.

Downtime means your downfall

Any period of downtime is a technology supplier’s worst nightmare, leading to lost revenue for customers every second their operations are offline, so it’s a priority to ensure our PAM is as robust as possible both for everyday operations and particularly when migrating customers from legacy technology to an EveryMatrix tech stack.

We ensure our PAM is stable in several ways, including:

  • Monitoring our systems in real time, allowing us to detect potential issues early and prevent failures before they impact operations.
  • Decoupling our systems and building separate failure domains, meaning if one component fails, it doesn’t bring down the entire system. If something happens, we can experience partial failures without affecting the overall service.
  • High performance and scalability inherently contribute to the system’s resilience. A system that can handle high loads efficiently is less likely to fail under stress.
  • We build redundancy into critical components, so there are backup systems in place. This fault tolerance ensures operations continue smoothly even if a component fails.
  • We have disaster recovery plans, including data back-ups and recovery procedures, to quickly restore services in the event of a major failure.
  • Maximum stability ensures operators and their players receive a consistent, smooth uninterrupted user experience which is essential for satisfaction and retention.
  • A stable system is better equipped to meet compliance requirements, avoiding legal issues and fines, while it also minimises the risk of transaction errors and data loss, protecting both operators’ and players’ financial interests.

The engine room of customer success

GamMatrix is the engine room that has powered us to become igaming’s fastest growing technology supplier.

This is technically not easy to achieve. It’s worth remembering that a PAM is not just one but a collection of products, each with different success requirements. This means that we must use a variety of different approaches and therefore our teams need to have a diverse range of expertise. These approaches include:

  • Transaction processing: this needs to be fast, scalable, consistent and resilient with the ability to handle a high volume of transactions quickly and accurately, with zero downtime.
  • Player flows: requires flexibility, customisation and resilience. The system must adapt to different user experiences and preferences while remaining robust.
  • Compliance: new markets regulate and regulations constantly change, therefore we need to have flexible interfaces that can rapidly adapt and support multiple territories.
  • Cross-cutting services: a reliable PAM provides a range of services that are essential for other products in the company such as audit, security, configuration, back office and more, and each one has different needs.

The fact we’re stable, fast and scalable has meant our flagship business units such as CasinoEngine and OddsMatrix have been able to achieve accelerated growth without having to worry about whether the PAM can keep up.

We have multiple business units and products, but we are at our best when we deliver turnkey solutions that centre on our PAM sitting at the core of the ecosystem.

Our ability to add new markets in record time – such as Germany, Hungary, Croatia, UK and Peru – means we can offer our turnkey solutions to new territories, opening the way for our flagship products to target new leads using our USP to differentiate and win some of the industry’s biggest and transformative deals.
