Samoil Dolejan, CEO of GamMatrix, analyses what makes a good PAM and why GamMatrix is the engine room driving EveryMatrix to become the fastest-growing technology provider.
Our industry has a thing about acronyms. From CPAs and CRM to AML and FTDs, we don’t just write code, but we also seem to converse in it.
However, there is one acronym that is mistakenly overlooked more than others; one that is at the heart of everything we do as a business and one that enables us to power our customers and every global operator: PAM (player account management system).
For a set of technologies that enable literally every product to function at high speed, drive large traffic volumes and generate revenue, very little is said or written about PAMs aside from the occasional reference or, at the other end of the scale, overly technical white papers.
In the past two years, EveryMatrix has consistently outperformed its competitors in growth and profitability, setting records across all our business units and retaining 95% of our clients. So, what’s behind this success?
So much of the industry likes to bottle up their own secret sauce. But it’s time we lifted the lid and poured some out so you can see just how crucial our PAM, GamMatrix, has been and continues to be to all our operations and, more importantly, to our customers, who use it to grow year on year.
To put it in context, in November alone we processed eight billion bets and wins, and supported 450,000 transactions per minute (or 7,500 per second) without any performance degradation. We have the capability to support even more because our systems can theoretically scale indefinitely.
In such a rapidly changing igaming landscape, where regulation and product focus can pivot in the blink of an eye, an effective PAM must, without fail, be four things: fast, robust, scalable and adaptable, enabling operators to not only keep up but also surpass their rivals with sufficient flexibility to add new features, new markets and technologies faster than anyone else.
Business continuity and keeping services running without interruption is crucial to any world-class operation, so a good PAM needs to be resilient and minimise downtime.
Operators also need to adjust their services to meet different customer needs, therefore an effective PAM needs to be flexible and provide the tools to customise functionality without overhauling the entire system.
GamMatrix is one of the fastest PAMs on the market for four main reasons: we view scalability and stability as priorities. These elements are built into the core of our system designed for growth, handling increasing loads without sacrificing performance, ensuring consistent uptime and reliability.
In technical terms, we also ‘decouple’ products. This means we tailor each product to an operator’s specific needs allowing for focused optimisations – such as making transaction processing extremely fast without affecting other parts – helping us to make the right trade-offs for maximum efficiency.
We carefully select the right tech stack, choosing the best technology for each product based on its requirements, opting for customised solutions and performance-oriented technologies that enhance speed and efficiency.
Finally, we take an observability-first approach with real-time monitoring to continuously assess system performance, enabling us to quickly identify and resolve issues, take data-driven decisions for improvements and perform proactive maintenance to prevent potential problems from impacting speed or performance.
Any period of downtime is a technology supplier’s worst nightmare, leading to lost revenue for customers every second their operations are offline, so it’s a priority to ensure our PAM is as robust as possible both for everyday operations and particularly when migrating customers from legacy technology to an EveryMatrix tech stack.
We ensure our PAM is stable in several ways, including:
GamMatrix is the engine room that has powered us to become igaming’s fastest growing technology supplier.
This is technically not easy to achieve. It’s worth remembering that a PAM is not just one but a collection of products, each with different success requirements. This means that we must use a variety of different approaches and therefore our teams need to have a diverse range of expertise. These approaches include:
The fact we’re stable, fast and scalable has meant our flagship business units such as CasinoEngine and OddsMatrix have been able to achieve accelerated growth without having to worry about whether the PAM can keep up.
We have multiple business units and products, but we are at our best when we deliver turnkey solutions that centre on our PAM sitting at the core of the ecosystem.
Our ability to add new markets in record time – such as Germany, Hungary, Croatia, UK and Peru – means we can offer our turnkey solutions to new territories, opening the way for our flagship products to target new leads using our USP to differentiate and win some of the industry’s biggest and transformative deals.
