Coffee Break with Razvan Haiduc

This week we start with Razvan Haiduc. Let’s learn something from his experience and of course admire his cutest puppies! 😊

How did your career in EveryMatrix start? What’s your favorite thing about working here?

I joined EM quite randomly, I would say. I was debating between a few different offers at the time, and for some reason, I decided to try my hand at Fintech – thus joining MoneyMatrix.

I found out quite quickly that I liked the company very much, with all its ups and downs. It’s a unique company, very different from my previous workplaces, with a much bigger focus on people, community, and collaboration.

What was your first job?

I started out as an English-Romanian interpreter when I was still in high school. Freelance, of course, but it was good money for very little actual work. Perfect.

What’s one of your biggest work pet peeves?

People prefer working hard to working smart. Many issues and problems can be solved with a 5-minute call but end up devolving into 6-month email threads.

Are you an early bird or a night owl? Give us your top productivity piece of advice.

I’d say both. Mornings are great for meetings, chats, or calls, while evenings or nights are good for quiet thinking and more complex problem-solving. My advice? Be flexible and don’t fall prey to the sunk cost fallacy.

What personality trait do you most attribute your success to, and why?

Easy-going. I tend not to take things personally, which really helps when interacting with people, especially in a multi-cultural environment.

What would you tell your younger self?

Nothing. Let the future be a mystery.

What is your biggest guilty pleasure?

Video Games. Leave me alone in a room with my computer and my unfinished Steam Library, and I’ll be good for months.

Name one thing everyone should add to their Bucket List.

A nice 20-year-old Lagavulin.

What would you do if you were gifted a million dollars, no strings attached?

Buy a house somewhere, preferably with a nice garden that I’ll instantly ruin because I don’t have a green thumb.
