The present edition of ICE Totally Gaming event generates a series of interests for us and our partners, like maintaining established connections, meeting prospective partners, have a drink with our friends and make some new ones, while keeping an open eye to the latest trends and technologies in the industry.
ICE 2016 is soon to begin and, as every important player in the industry, we have our tips and tricks that proved valuable along the years in reaching the best results. So, buckle up and get ready to fine tune your conference skills.
Here’s what to do and not to do at conferences:
“What are my goals for this conference and how will I achieve them?” These are questions you should ask yourself before you go. Write the answer down and remind yourself to pursue these goals during the conference.
Move beyond the trivial small talk and ask your fellow conference-goers bigger, more intriguing questions such as “What are you really proud of having accomplished in the last year?” or “What are your biggest challenges at the moment?”. You might be able to spark a really interesting conversation this way and create valuable relations.
Feel like scribbling down your contact details on tiny scraps of paper from the conference program? Not really, right? Prepare for the best and make sure that you bring enough business cards to avoid running out, no matter what happens.
You will likely end up in a lot of situations, where you are required to explain either what you do or what your company does. Therefore you should prepare and practice your elevator speech and stick to it, no matter how tired you get of hearing yourself, just go on and keep it as concise and effective as possible.
We know it is very comfortable in there, but you should seize the opportunity to get out of it and mingle. Your new best sparring partner or a new client might be out there.
We don’t mean to be judgmental here, but this one goes out to the salespersons in particular. We have all experienced the overly eager and highly pushy type that won’t realize that you are not a lead. Don’t be that person.
We’ve all had that one customer who was a real pain in the behind, but there is no need to bring that up and start a story-telling competition where focus is more on telling the best story than on actually listening and learning from each other. Instead, focus on the positive stories and remember to listen.
“When you talk, you are only repeating what you already know. But when you listen, you might learn something new,” said Dalai Lama. He is a wise man. You should listen to him.
Ever found that not being able to remember someone’s name kept you from starting a conversation or asking that person a question? We have. Fortunately, we all forget names every now and then, especially when you meet new people all the time. Therefore, you shouldn’t worry if you forget someone’s name. Just go ahead and ask for it again.
ICE Totally Gaming 2016 in London is the “gaming event” for every major player in the industry and we are proud to reach this milestone. We invite our friends, colleagues and partners to our stand: N6-310, have a drink with us (or nine, since we bring local drinks from all our local offices in the world) and enjoy a relaxed conversation on sports, casino, payment, licensing or management solutions that are essential for the success of a gambling website.
